Good news, fans of Star Wars animation: there’s a new anthology of shorts arriving imminently. Back in 2022, we got six bite-sized instalments of Dave Filoni's Tales Of The Jedi, presenting previously-unexplored stories of Ahsoka Tano and then-Jedi-Master Dooku. Then in 2024, we got Tales Of The Empire, with stories of Morgan Elsbeth and Barriss Offee. Now, get ready for Tales Of The Underworld, the next batch of animated nuggets — dropping this May the 4th, and bringing all-new, original story snippets focused on super-bad bounty hunter Cad Bane, and warrior Asajj Ventress. Check out the trailer for the miniseries below:
It's blasters at high noon and yellow sabers by night for two of the galaxy's deadliest figures in this gorgeously animated — and edited — first trailer for Tales Of The Underworld, which looks set to dig deeper into the stories of two fan favourites of The Clone Wars who've both been happily brought back into the franchise's fold in Star Wars' Disney+ era. For Jedi-Padawan-turned-Sith-Assassin-turned-Bounty-Hunter Ventress (Nika Futterman), her somewhat heroic redemption, recently solidified in the final season of The Bad Batch, appears set to continue here with a story in which she faces a new Dark Side Force user while shepherding a lost Padawan in a post-Order 66 galaxy. As for quick-draw space Clint Eastwood himself, Cad Bane (Corey Burton), last seen in live-action form in The Book Of Boba Fett, the sharpshooter's steady hand is set to be tested by a run-in with old Theelin pal Latts Razzi, who is "now a marshal on the other side of the law," per Underworld's official synopsis.
With Andor Season 2 now just weeks away and Star Wars Celebration due to kick off in Tokyo in a fortnight's time, promising new reveals for The Mandalorian & Grogu, Ahsoka Season 2, and the future of Lucasfilm Animation now that The Bad Batch is all wrapped up, it would be safe to say that the Force is growing stronger by the day in that galaxy far, far away — so stay tuned for more exciting updates in the weeks ahead. Yippee!
