Good news today for everyone who enjoyed Rapman's Netflix story of powered people, Supacell. The streaming service has announced that the show has landed a second season renewal.
The series, for those who didn't check it out, follows a seemingly ordinary South London family and some other characters dealing with sickle cell disease. When several of them develop unexpected and unexplained powers, they start to experiment with them — only to be pursued by a secret organization that intends to exploit them.
Created by Rapman and directed by Sebastian Thiel, Supacell stars Tosin Cole, Jessica Magaye, Ricardo McCleary-Campbell, Saraphina Mattis, Melissa Simon-Hartman, Cleo Young and Micheal Ademilua.
We enjoyed the first season, our own Alex Godfrey describing it as "an impressively unpredictable show pulsating with vitality and urgency." It's also been a big hit for Netflix, one of the most successful UK-based series the company has produced in a long time, sitting in the Top 10 for several global markets.
Netflix confirmed the news in a tweet:
No word on when it might arrive on our screens, but it'll be worth waiting for.
