Magneto Declares His True Name, Flipping an Iconic Batman Cliché
Both DC's Batman and Marvel's Magneto have more or less rejected their birth identities for their super-hero selves, but for very different reasons.
Warning: Spoilers for Resurrection of Magneto (2024) #3 ahead!Magneto and Batman seem like completely opposite characters at first glance – a super-powered antihero vs. a philanthropic vigilante – but it seems that Magneto is taking a page from Batman's playbook in his latest cycle of death and resurrection. Each character views their super alter-ego as their true self, but while Batman makes this a natural outcome of his obsession, Magneto's reasons for doing so are significantly more muddied.
