KAOS Cancelled At Netflix After One Season

KAOS’ reign has come to an end. Just over a month ago, Netflix debuted a modern take on the Greek pantheon of gods in a series from The End Of The F***ing World writer Charlie Covell – with none other than Jeff Goldblum as a tracksuit-wearing Zeus. But while the show received positive reviews, it looks to be the next victim of the Netflix one-and-done curse: the series has, according to Variety, been axed at the streamer and won’t receive a second season. Something tells us the gods aren’t going to like this.

News of the cancellation initially arrived courtesy of one of its stars, Aurora Perrineau, who played Eurydice – and posted a (since-deleted) emotional farewell to the show on her Instagram page. In the comments, she clarified that the show had, indeed, been cancelled. “We made something weird, dark, hilarious, deranged and absolutely tragic – something entirely human. THIS is a feeling I plan to take with me,” she wrote. “Thanks for letting me be your Riddy. I had the time of my life.” Variety says it has now confirmed the news with Netflix. The series debuted on the streaming service on 29 August – so the cancellation comes fewer than six weeks after the show first arrived.

Stay tuned for any news on whether Kaos manages to find a new home – but for the moment, it sits alongside the likes of Lockwood & Co., The Midnight Club, Cowboy Bebop, 1899, The Bastard Son And The Devil Himself, and The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance in the pantheon of Netflix shows that ended before they really got a chance to begin. Rest easy in the Elysian Fields, KAOS.
