Azula's former sidekicks Mai and Ty Lee switched sides towards the end of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but their stories didn't end there. In the original animated series, Mai and Ty Lee decided to help Zuko and Team Avatar escape from Azula at Boiling Rock's prison. One of the last times the audience of the animated series saw them was when they were left in a cell. Both Mai and Ty Lee also appeared in the Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel comics, which take place in the years immediately following the end of the Hundred Year War.
