Shirley Movie: What Happened To George Wallace After His Assassination Attempt
The assassination attempt and aftermath of 1972 Presidential candidate George Wallace is depicted in the new Netflix historical biopic Shirley.
A pivotal scene in the new Netflix movie Shirley is the real-life assassination attempt of presidential candidate George Wallace. Wallace, played by W. Earl Brown (Deadwood, Preacher, Black Mass) in Shirley, was a well-known American politician and judge who served as the 45th governor of Alabama for a total of four terms. Like the real-life Shirley Chisholm, Wallace announced that he was running for President of the United States as a Democrat in the pivotal 1972 election.
