A New Hope nearly included another Clone Wars reference, which would have made one of Darth Vader's kills much darker - & Anakin's story more tragic.
The very first Star Wars movie – now known as A New Hope – mentions the Clone Wars, but one additional reference to the war would have made the story of Anakin Skywalker far more tragic, had it not been deleted. The Clone Wars are first mentioned by Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, as the latter explains the true background of Anakin Skywalker. The Star Wars prequel trilogy and non-movie materials from the canon and Legends continuities would go on to depict this pivotal moment in galactic history in detail.
