Evil Dead: Another Spin-Off Film In The Works With Francis Galluppi Directing

Andy Warhol once famously wrote, "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes." We may need to edit that to, "Everyone will get the chance to at least pitch an Evil Dead movie to Sam Raimi for a shot at making it." Because, a couple of months after word that Vermin director Sébastien Vaniček is developing his own take on the venerable horror franchise, news arrives via Deadline that Francis Galluppi will be figuring out another.

Galluppi, who directed The Last Stop In Yuma County (starring filmmaker Jim Cummings, who we could also see one day making an Evil Dead if he were so inclined), has reportedly brought an original idea set in the Dead-verse to Sam Raimi, who oversees any movie based on his original trilogy.

"Francis Galluppi is a storyteller who knows when to keep us waiting in simmering tension and when to hit us with explosive violence," Raimi told Deadline. "He is a director that shows uncommon control in his feature debut." This will, as you could surmise, not connected to Vaniček's film or anything to do with Lee Cronin's Evil Dead Rise beyond being set in the same universe. Cronin may well also return for a sequel to Rise, $147 million worldwide.

The Last Stop In Yuma County premiered at the Fantastic Fest film festival and will be on Stateside screens on 10 May. There are no details on a UK release date yet.
