New Star Wars Series In The Works From Lost Co-Showrunner Carlton Cuse And Son Nick Cuse

There has been an awakening... have you felt it? This past weekend at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, fans of that legendary galaxy far, far away were treated to a slew of updates on new and upcoming projects at Lucasfilm — from Ryan Gosling and Shawn Levy movie Star Wars: Starfighter, to Ahsoka Season 2, to major new animated series Maul: Shadow Lord. Now, as we recover from the weekend's celebrations, we're getting word via Deadline that there is another buzzy Star Wars project heading our way: a new series from Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse and his son, Nick Cuse (The Leftovers).

Per Deadline's reporting, the father-son duo's series — their first collaboration with one another — is in very early development, meaning not only are things like plot details and casting news a long way off just yet, but the green light hasn't officially been, well, greenlit and ordered to series just yet. Nevertheless, news that the Cuses are looking to make the jump to light speed and deliver their own take on Star Wars is exciting, especially given the duo's past projects, between them encompassing such diverse fare as Watchmen, Masters Of The Air, Prime Video's Jack Ryan, and Netflix joint Locke And Key — as well as the aforementioned, critically acclaimed Lost and The Leftovers.

Could the duo's show be the horror project Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy recently let slip about in an interview with Business Insider? Might we be in for a grand Cuse mystery box show à la The Leftovers and Lost? Or will their journey into the universe that George Lucas built be something else entirely? With Andor's second season about to drop, The Mandalorian & Grogu getting ready to hit our screens next May, and the slate over at Lucasfilm starting to fill up nicely again just now after a few recent disturbances in the Force, colour us intrigued. And, as ever, stay tuned here for more updates— we'll let you know just as soon as we learn more about what the Cuses are cooking.
