Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes Streaming Date On Disney+ Confirmed For August

The start of the summer blockbuster season was a real ape-fest. Within a matter of weeks, there was Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the long-awaited Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes, and Dev Patel’s Monkey Man (ok, no actual apes in that one). And the ape-iest of the lot was Kingdom, fast-forwarding 300 years on from the end of the Caesar trilogy to spin a whole new apes-together-strong saga, sending young Noa (Owen Teague) out of his sheltered home and into a world of overgrown ruins, hardscrabble humans, and simian despots. The film was a solid hit in cinemas amid a tricky time for ticket sales, earning just shy of $400 million worldwide, and now we know exactly when it’ll be available to all on Disney+.

It’s been confirmed that Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes will hit Disney+ on 2 August – ready to bring the story of Noa, the smirking Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand), and mysterious human Mae (Freya Allan) to audiences at home. The film – directed by Wes Ball, previously behind The Maze Runner trilogy, and soon to head to Hyrule for The Legend Of Zelda’s big-screen outing – will join every other Planet Of The Apes movie on the streaming service, including the original sci-fi saga, and the recent Caesar-centric films.

While Kingdom fared well at the box office, no plans have yet been confirmed for a sequel – though, if it garners significant numbers of additional eyeballs on Disney+, that may help a follow-up get the greenlight. Either way, the latest adventure with those damn dirty apes is just days away from a streaming service near you.
