Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera Trailer: Gerard Butler Goes From Cop To Robber In Heist Movie Sequel

Big Nick is back! That's right folks, everybody's favourite morally iffy, day-drinking LA County Sheriff's Department detective is back in the saddle, revved up and ready for more cops and robbers shenanigans in Christian Gudegast's heist movie sequel Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera. But whilst the first film was basically a down-and-dirty Heat, with Gerard Butler playing the Al Pacino to Pablo Schreiber's Robert De Niro, this time around — if the new trailer's anything to go by at least — it looks like our man Nick O'Brien is eyeing a slice of O'Shea Jackson Jr.'s World Diamond Centre pilfering pie for himself. Check it out below;

At an epic nigh-on three minutes long, you'd imagine there's a lot to unpack from this first look at the latest from the man who wrote London Has Fallen. But let's face it, we know exactly what we're here for with Den Of Thieves 2, and what we're here for is Gerry B taking names and kicking ass alongside Jackson Jr.'s Donnie, the secret mastermind behind the first movie's Federal Reserve bank job. And on that front, it doesn't look like we're going to be disappointed, as this new trailer sees a beardier-than-ever Butler break into Donnie's home, say things like "You're not a killer, I am," and crack tinder jokes whilst wearing the slickest aviator shades you ever saw. Sure, there's a big ol' heist at the heart of it all with car chases, helicopter chases, and the tease of some crosses and double-crosses afoot, but as Donnie succinctly puts it, the joint's raison d'etre is a simple addition to the heist formula — "and the cop goes gangster."

Also setting it up this time around are Meadow Williams, Jordan Bridges, Evin Ahmad, Swen Temmel, Bob Jennings, Salvatore Esposito, and UFC fighter Michael Bisping. With a third Den Of Thieves already being floated by Gudegast, and Gerard Butler looking like he's having the time of his life pushing Big Nick to his grizzliest and gruffest outer limits, we suspect Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera may be another low-key gem for genre lovers and Gerry B Stans alike. We'll see whether Big Nick has truly broken bad or if he's pulling off the ultimate inside-job-within-an-inside-job when this one hits cinemas on 10 January, 2025.
