Chris Pine Set To Lead Texas Crime Thriller Nowhere Fast — Fargo Creator Noah Hawley Will Direct

Somehow, unbelievably, it's been almost a decade since Chris Pine first — and last — flexed his neo-Western chops, putting in a powerhouse performance as Toby Howard in underappreciated, Texas based Taylor Sheridan oater Hell Or High Water. The years since have seen our beloved Hollywood Chris enjoy a Themysciran romance, play an Outlaw King, journey to Baldur's Gate, and even sling a web or two in the Spider-Verse, but never return to the Lone Star state. Until now. Per Variety's reporting, the Don't Worry Darling star has signed on to lead Nowhere Fast, an original Southern crime thriller from Fargo creator Noah Hawley.

We know very little about what Hawley's cooking up at this point, with casting on the movie only just underway and the writer-director presumably still pretty fresh from post-production on his upcoming Alien prequel series, Alien: Earth. The logline however, as shared by Variety, tantalisingly teases a Texan plot in which a small-town criminal inadvertently ices his boss' nephew. Yikes! Officially, we don't even know whether Pine will be playing the crook, the crime lord, or indeed the corpse even in Nowhere Fast, but given Hawley's genre pedigree, as shown over the past four seasons of the ever-twisting, ever-turning Fargo, we're sure Pine will slot right in to his director's masterplan.

Having made his directorial debut to mixed reception early last year with self-starrer Poolman, the rest of 2024 marked something of a fallow period for the four-quadrant regular. But with this Noah Hawley collaboration and a return to contemporary Western territory now in the pipeline, fear not: Chris Pine is going Nowhere Fast. And we shall also be going Nowhere Fast.... except to the cinema... when Nowhere Fast comes out. That makes sense, right? Right?! Okay, we're heading for a lie-down...
