Why Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire's Reviews Are So Much Worse Than Afterlife

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has been met with a much harsher critical reception than its predecessor, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, but why are the reviews so negative? Following on from Afterlife, Frozen Empire sees the Spengler family returning to the Ghostbusters’ hometown of New York City to battle more invading ghosts, who are now trying to plunge the world into a second ice age. While Afterlife was warmly received by critics, who praised its humor, originality, and emotional weight, Frozen Empire has been met with mostly negative reviews, and a dismal “rotten” Rotten Tomatoes score of just 43%.
