Though he's been primarily at the third annual Sands International Film Festival to A) promote Last Call the short film directed by hi brother Harry in which he stars and B) play golf, Tom Holland can never quite escape the shadow of Spider-Man. Not that he wants to (see his initial comments below). But when Deadline asked him about the future of the web-slinger, he admitted that all involved were being careful with the development of the fourth film, so as not to short-change what happened in 2021's successful Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Holland, though (not that one, or that one, the Spider-one) was clear that he's still happy to be Peter Parker: "The simple answer is that I’ll always want to do Spider-Man films," Holland says. "I owe my life and career to Spider-Man. So the simple answer is yes. I’ll always want to do more."
But, according to him, there is also a more complicated answer. "We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing."
He is, however, happy to be more closely involved than ever. "This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creative so early. It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning. It’s just a really fun stage for me. Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not overdoing the same things."
