Titus Welliver May Be Set To Lead New The Equalizer Spin-Off Series

We're gonna tell each and every one of you this exciting news about The Equalizer — and the only disappointment in it for us is that we only get to do it once. Mere weeks after learning that Denzel Washington's avenging angel Robert McCall is set to return in The Equalizer 4 and 5 on the big screen, we're getting word of an eye-catching development on the franchise's small screen future, too. Per Deadline's reporting, Titus Welliver and Juani Feliz — both of whom are set to make appearances later in the fifth season of Queen Latifah's The Equalizer show — are being tapped to lead their own spin-off set in the action-thriller series' morally murksome world.

Created by Andrew W. Marlowe and Terri Edda Miller, CBS' The Equalizer — which airs on Sky in the UK — sees Queen Latifah star as Robyn McCall. The female equivalent of Denzel's character in the movies, Latifah's McCall uses her extensive skillset to help those with nowhere else to turn, and in the latest series her path is set to cross with Welliver's former CIA operative Hudson Reed and his daughter Samantha (Feliz), a chip off the old block who's been well schooled in the tricks of her father's lethal trade. While the duo technically have guest billing in The Equalizer show, Deadline understands that the expectation is for the Reeds' introduction to leave the door open to further appearances ahead of being given their own spin-off series, which would mark a first for the historically lone-fronted Equalizer franchise.

For Titus Welliver, whose 11 year run playing anti-authority cop-turned-PI Harry Bosch is set to come to an end with Bosch: Legacy Season 3 this March, an Equalizer off-shoot could mark the start of a new chapter for an actor whose fans will surely follow wherever he goes next. As for Feliz, who's enjoyed supporting roles in shows like Harlem and Fleishman Is In Trouble, a team-up with Welliver would mark a significant next step in her career. We don't know when — or, strictly speaking if — this new spin-off will hit our screens just yet, or The Equalizer 4 and 5 for that matter, but one thing's for sure: we'll be watching.
