The Rings Of Power Season 3 BTS Video Teases Elendil Wielding Narsil As Shooting Continues

Fresh dispatches from the island of Númenor, fantasy fans! Following July's behind the scenes tease of Sauron's return in The Rings Of Power Season 3 via the crown of Morgoth, the folks over at Prime Video are continuing to whet the appetite of fans of the streamer's billion-dollar Lord Of The Rings prequel with another item-based sneak peek at what J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay are cooking up over at Shepperton Studios. And this time, it's future High King of the Dúnedain, King of Arnor and King of Gondor Elendil — aka Welsh actor Lloyd Owen — who's taking centre stage, wielding a blade of preciousss importance to Middle-earth. Check out the teaser below:

The sword of the Faithful, indeed. When last we saw Elendil, during The Rings Of Power's explosive Season 2 finale, the proud Númenorean was riding west as his home — in thrall to the corrupt Ar-Pharazôn — burned behind him, the legendary sword Narsil on his person as a parting gift from (and reminder of) Míriel. Where we will find the father of Isildur and Anárion in Season 3 — which is set to see McKay and Payne execute a time jump that'll thrust viewers into the midst of Sauron's creation of the One Ring at the height of the war between the Dark Lord and the Elves — very much remains to be seen for now, but the decision to tease Sauron's return and the man whose blade will *SPOILERS FOR LORD OF THE RINGS* one day destroy him surely bodes well for those of us hoping to see Owen's Númenorean Captain take on a more prominent role in the upcoming series.

With this latest clip, we now have two confirmed cast returnees in the form of Owen as Elendil and Charlie Vickers as Sauron to go alongside previously confirmed series newcomers Jamie Campbell Bower and Eddie Marsan. As for the rest of the gang — Morfydd Clark's Galadriel, Robert Aramayo's Elrond, Daniel Weyman Gandalf et al — we will just have to hope tidbits will drop in the weeks ahead to confirm our faves' returns, as we don't have a full cast list just yet. Still, with cameras rolling and the fate of Middle-earth still very much hanging in the balance, we expect it won't be long before we start hearing — and seeing — much more from The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Season 3. Watch this space!
