The Punisher Getting One-Off Disney+ Special Starring Jon Bernthal

We’re less than two weeks away from the return of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil in Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again – and he’s not the only member of Netflix’s Marvel-verse series due to make a comeback. The show is confirmed to include an appearance from Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, aka Frank Castle, at some point during the run, and now we know that won't be his only appearance going forward. Bernthal will be back in the role for a one-off Disney+ special, arriving under the ‘A Marvel Studios Special Presentation’ banner.

Bernthal isn’t just going to star in the special – he’s also co-writing alongside Reinaldo Marcus Green, the King Richard and One Love director who’ll be helming this one. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Television boss Brad Winderbaum teased what fans can expect from The Punisher’s return: “It's like a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story," he promises. “It's so exciting.” Previous ‘Special Presentations’ from Marvel Studios include Werewolf By Night, and The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special.
