For a while now, casting directors in Hollywood have been saying, “Help! I need somebody! Help! Not just anybody! Help! You know I need someone… to play one of The Beatles in an upcoming slate of four interconnected biopics telling the story of the world’s greatest band.” It is, you have to admit, a catchy refrain. And now, after much (accurate) rumour and speculation, the Fab-tastic Four line-up has been officially confirmed at CinemaCon – a selection of some of the finest new British and Irish talent to have emerged in recent years. Meet The Beatles!
As long thought, Harris Dickinson is lined up to play John Lennon. Paul Mescal has been cast as Paul McCartney. Barry Keoghan will be bringing peace and love as Ringo Starr. And Joseph Quinn will let his guitar gently weep as George Harrison (making him the only person to be in the Fab Four and the Fantastic Four). Undertaking the magical mystery tour behind the camera is director Sam Mendes, who revealed at CinemaCon that all four Beatles films will be released in the same month: April 2028. The intention from Sony, he stated, is to create “the first bingeable theatrical experience”. It’s unknown yet whether all four films will receive the same release day, if they’ll arrive a week apart, or whether they’ll be available eight days a week.
Stay tuned for more updates as The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event moves further along in development. And be sure to get your ticket to ride all four movies in April 2028.
