Nightbitch Trailer: Amy Adams Believes She’s Turning Into A Dog In New Horror Comedy

It's often said that motherhood changes a person — physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally. In Can You Ever Forgive Me? director Marielle Heller's upcoming horror comedy Nightbitch however, motherhood is set to change Amy Adams in an altogether more peculiar way as the six-time Oscar nominated actor plays an artist who may or may not be turning into a dog. Yes, you read that right: a dog! It's a barking mad set-up to be sure, but the first trailer for the film — adapted from Rachel Yoder's 2021 novel — promises this one could well be the, er, dog's doodads. Check it out below:

If you went into this one blind, the first minute or so of this trailer would seem to be setting up a run-of-the-mill domestic drama, with Adams playing the put upon stay at home mother opposite Scoot McNairy's oblivious husband. But then Adams' toddler turns around and tells her she's fuzzy, and before you know it the Arrival and Enchanted star is snaffling dogfood from a bowl, gadding about on all fours, hanging out with canines, and boasting about her nethers' walnut crushing potential as Miley Cyrus banger 'Midnight Sky' blares out. Suffice it to say that the fact all of those things do indeed happen and yet somehow this still seems like a somewhat grounded exploration of the pressures of motherhood has us very intrigued indeed. You could even say it gives us serious paws for thought (sorry).

Here's the official synopsis for the film, whose ensemble includes among its ranks Mary Holland, Jessica Harper, Zoë Chao, Ella Thomas, and Stacey Swift: “Nightbitch tells the story of a woman thrown into the stay-at-home routine of raising a toddler in the suburbs, who slowly embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, as she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and undeniable signs that she may be turning into a canine.”

With Heller at the helm, Adams set to go feral, and all bets off as to how this one will eventually shake out, Nightbitch is shaping up to be a real mutt-see when it arrives in cinemas on 6 December.
