Moon Knight Season 2 Is Unlikely – But ‘There Are Plans’ For The Character

It’s been nearly three years now since Moon Knight came to Disney+, bringing the fractured mind and bloodied knuckles of Marc Spector / Steven Grant (and, briefly, Jake Lockley) to our screens. All three of those parts were embodied – in one actual body, no less – by Oscar Isaac in a thrilling marriage of star and role(s), leading a show that mostly found its footing across six episodes. But since then, it’ll been all quiet on the Ancient Egyptian front, with no sightings of the character since. Of course, nabbing the ever-busy Isaac for a streaming series is never going to be an easy task – but it seems the lack of a return for Moon Knight isn’t just because of its A-list star’s packed schedule.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Marvel Television boss Brad Winderbaum indicated that a second season of Moon Knight isn’t on the cards. “Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted,” he says. The interview took place in promotion of Daredevil: Born Again, which it seems is more in line with Marvel’s upcoming plans for its small-screen characters. “We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television,” he says, indicating a shift away from event-style miniseries.
There is hope, though – with Winderbaum teasing that Moon Knight should have a future in the MCU, if not necessarily on Disney+. “I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road,” he says. Come on Khonshu, make it happen.
