Here's one of those bits of midweek TV news that gets more intriguing as it goes on. Riding the buzz from her return as Anna Coleman in Freakier Friday, a resurgent Lindsay Lohan is set to star alongside Shailene Woodley in a Hulu/Disney+ limited series from Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, former showrunners on This Is Us. Per Deadline's reporting, Lohan and Woodley have signed on to star in and executive produce Count My Lies, an adaptation of Sophie Stava's Good Morning America book club backed debut novel.
By the sounds of it, Count My Lies looks primed to join the likes of Netflix's Sirens, The Perfect Couple, and Apple TV+'s Palm Royale in the ever-growing ranks of thrillers about common folk getting tangled up in the messy lives of the rich and powerful. The logline for the series, shared by Deadline, reads as follows: "In Count My Lies, when compulsive liar Sloane Caraway (Woodley) fibs her way into a nanny position for the gorgeous and charismatic Violet (Lohan) and Jay Lockhart, it seems she’s finally landed her dream job. But little does Sloane know, she’s just entered a household brimming with secrets that are about to explode — with potentially catastrophic consequences for all." Quelle surprise!
Outside of a very brief stint on Ugly Betty, Lohan has never actually starred in a TV series before. Meanwhile, her co-star — soon to be seen in Season 2 of This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman's Paradise on Disney+ — is no stranger to starring in a series about the dark side of the filthy rich, having played Jane Chapman across two seasons of Big Little Lies. No news as of yet regarding when we can expect Count My Lies to hit our screens, but we're telling the truth when we say that this one has our curiosity and our attention.
