Kevin Bacon Hunts Demons For The Devil In Trailer For Prime Video Supernatural Series The Bondsman

He's fought Graboids in Tremors, turned invisible in Hollow Man, gone mutant in X-Men: First Class, and saved a whole town with the power of dance in Footloose, but with upcoming Prime Video x Blumhouse supernatural series The Bondsman, Kevin Bacon may well have just outdone himself. In the show, created by former Daredevil showrunner Erik Oleson, Bacon plays Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter brought back from the dead by the actual Devil in order to capture straight-up demons who have escaped from literal Hell. Sounds nuts, right? Well check out the trailer for the series below, because it looks nuts, too;

What did we tell ya? Nuts! As trailers go, this one is pretty rammed, quickly whizzing through Hub's grizzly death, hasty resurrection, and blackly comic realisation that he's now in league with Satan ("You're still a bounty hunter, but now you hunt demons... for the Devil" deadpans Jolene Purdy's demon-hunting orientation supervisor Midge). But while there's some stuff in here about familial reconciliation and morality and the stuff of legitimate, probably low-key affecting drama, what we're really here for is KB huntin' them demons — and watching Bacon fry possessed pastors, shotgun satanists, and chainsaw glowy-eyed goons has us sold sold sold!

If you need any more convincing though, here's the official synopsis: "Kevin Bacon stars as Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter who’s back from the dead after being resurrected by the Devil to trap and send back demons that have escaped from the prison of Hell. By chasing down those demons with the help and hindrance of his estranged family, Hub learns how his own sins got his soul condemned -- which pushes him to seek a second chance at life, love, and country music." Among the ensemble joining Hub for the ride (and boosting our Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon options several fold) are Jennifer Nettles, Damon Herriman, Beth Grant, and Maxwell Jenkins.

Will The Bondsman make for devilishly good television? Or are Hub Halloran and co destined to find themselves on the highway to (cancellation) Hell? We'll find out when the series makes its debut on Prime Video on 3 April.
