Jeremy Allen White Could Play Bruce Springsteen In Film About Nebraska Album

From The Beef to The Boss – Jeremy Allen White might be stepping into the shoes of one of music’s all-time-greats. In recent years, the actor has received considerable acclaim for his central role in The Bear, following it up with wrestling hit The Iron Claw, and a Calvin Klein campaign that sent the internet into meltdown. And while The Bear is back in production on Season 3 (and Season 4 too, reportedly, shooting back-to-back), White may next be set to play none other than Bruce Springsteen.

Reports indicate that White is in talks for the role in Deliver Me From Nowhere – not a full-on Bruce biopic, but a film specifically zoning in on the creation of his 1982 album Nebraska. Released as Springsteen’s fame was rocketing – it landed between smash double-album The River, and hit-packed behemoth Born In The USANebraska was a total change of pace for the musician, a stripped-down acoustic album recorded on 4-track, where the recordings intended as demos instead became the finished album. The album is an acclaimed cult favourite within Springsteen’s discography, packed with tragic tales of working-class American life – with notable songs including ‘Atlantic City’ and ‘Johnny 99’.

The film will be adapted from Warren Zanes’ 2023 book Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making Of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska, with Crazy Heart filmmaker Scott Cooper down to write and direct. According to Deadline, A24 are in talks to home the film, with a view to shoot in New Jersey this autumn.

Will The Boss finally make it to the screen? Will the lo-fi magic of Nebraska make it intact? Will they end up releasing the footage intended as rehearsal as the film itself, for the authentic Nebraska experience? We’ll find out in 1-2-3-4!
