Sound the Nolan news klaxon people (Bwahhhhh!), Hollywood's favourite British Chris is back in the cinematic kitchen and cooking once again. Yes, following the multiple Oscar- and BAFTA-award winning success of H-bomb biopic Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan is getting set to team up with Universal once again on his next movie. And what's more, per Deadline's reporting, it looks like Nolan is planning to bring his Oppenheimer and Interstellar star Matt Damon aboard to lead the new project.
Currently slated for release on 17 July, 2026, the plot of Nolan's 13th film — which, you'll be unsurprised to learn, is already being positioned for a big IMAX launch — is being kept entirely under wraps at this stage. We do however know that as well as eyeing Damon to lead his next movie, Nolan will also write and produce the feature alongside his long-time producing partner and wife Emma Thomas, with the plan being for cameras to start rolling in early 2025. And with Damon already in the frame now to front this one, don't be surprised if we start populating your feeds with an increasingly jaw-slackening all-star role call in the weeks and months to come.
In terms of what this mysterious new movie will wind up being, clues are few and far between. THR say sources have ruled out Nolan finally making the big-screen take on '60s British intelligence series The Prisoner already, whilst the kernel of an idea that the Inception filmmaker would be interested in making a horror movie someday remains resolutely unpopped — at least for now. All we do can be sure of at this point is that Nolan's coming back, and if his last 12 films are anything to go by, then that's enough to have us very hyped indeed for whatever's up next. "Alexa, play 'Cornfield Chase'... again!"
