Charli XCX Circling White Witch Role In Greta Gerwig’s Netflix Narnia Movie

Brat summer is over — Brat winter is coming! It's been a busy old start to the month for pop megastar Charli XCX, who scooped a mighty four BRIT Awards just last weekend before following it up with the announcement of a Glastonbury headline slot just this morning. But while the rest of us would probably be nursing hangovers or taking some time out to chill right about now, that's not the 'Guess' singer's style. Per Deadline's reporting, the budding actor is circling a role in Greta Gerwig's upcoming Netflix Narnia movie.

Who exactly Charli XCX will hypothetically be playing in Gerwig's fantasy epic adaptation of C.S. Lewis' beloved books isn't 100% confirmed, but while we reckon the Brit star could easily play one of the Good Ones (she'd bring mega mane character energy to Aslan, don't you think?), Deadline's sources say that she could be set to play one of the franchise's Mean Girls instead — namely Jadis, The White Witch. Last played by Tilda Swinton in 2005's The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe, Jadis is very brat; so brat in fact that the murderous extradimensional alien baddie (in)famously doomed Narnia to a century-long winter.

Should this educated speculation/rumour-millery prove true, then a gig working under the Barbie filmmaker would be a major coup for Charli XCX, whose pivot from the stage/soundbooth to the screen is gathering some serious momentum just now. On the same day as we've learned this Narnia news, the multi-hyphenate has just entered production on Aidan Zamiri's The Moment, an A24 joint based on her own original idea. And looking at the rest of the star's ever-expanding pipeline, there's no shortage of major names she'll be collaborating with in the near future. Projects already confirmed for Charli XCX include Cathy Yan's The Gallerist, Gregg Araki's I Want Your Sex, Romain Gavrais' Sacrifice, and Daniel Goldhaber’s Faces Of Death, a slate of films in which she'll star alongside the likes of Olivia Wilde, Mason Gooding, Cooper Hoffman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Evans, Natalie Portman, Jenna Ortega, and Catherine Zeta-Jones to name but a few.
