The Alien series is one of the most famous sci-fi horror franchises in Hollywood’s history. It hasn’t always been that way, though. Despite this, the film’s basic pitch of being “Jaws in space” was strong enough to keep generating interest, eventually driving it to become a solid box office success. On a budget of just over $10 million, Alien grossed over $184 million, making it one of the highest-grossing films of that year.
