Sitcoms often deal with large casts and plenty of guest stars, so they don't always have time to give each character the attention that they deserve. This means that some great characters end up with wasted potential, even if the show does well without them. More so than most other shows, sitcoms usually introduce a steady stream of new characters to create new comedic situations. Some great characters only last for a single episode, but they are so memorable that fans wish they could see more of them in future seasons.
