The Rings Of Power Season 3 Enters Production As Amazon Teases Sauron’s Return

The world is changed. We feel it in the water. We feel it in the Earth. We smell it in the air. And that can only mean one thing: something is stirring over in Middle-earth (or Shepperton Studios, at least.) Yes, nine long months after The Rings Of Power's explosive Season 2 finale finally saw J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay's mega budget Lord Of The Rings prequel go its own way, and five months after Season 3 officially got greenlit, today Amazon took to social media to reveal that production is underway on the fantasy saga's latest instalment. Check out the behind the scenes teaser below;
Sauron's theme. Morgoth's crown. "Something is stirring on set." Yeah, we're thinking the Dark Lord is back — as if there were ever any doubt. Now obviously there's very little to be gleaned in terms of Season 3 plot intel from someone crossing a parking lot with the Iron Crown of the OG big bad from J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium. Handily then, Amazon has already given us a plot synopsis for the third season of The Rings Of Power, and it reads thus: "Jumping forward several years from the events of Season 2, Season 3 takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth at last.” Oh, bother!
Back in February, we learned that Stranger Things' Vecna, Jamie Campbell Bower, is heading to Middle-earth for Season 3 alongside Eddie Marsan, with rumours abound that the former could be taking on the role of Galadriel's as-yet-unseen husband Celeborn and the latter the brother of Owain Arthur's dwarf Durin. As for who'll be joining them, that much remains to be seen. As of right now, we don't even have confirmation of Charlie Vickers, Morfydd Clark, and Robert Aramayo's returns as Sauron, Galadriel, and Elrond just yet — though we'd be very surprised if they suddenly disappeared, what with the war and everything going on. With cameras now rolling, here's hoping The Rings Of Power Season 3 might be on our screens sometime in 2026. We wants it preciousss... we needs it precioussssss.
