Conjuring hive, assemble: something wicked this way comes! Yes, despite the fact that the quote-unquote 'final' movie in the Conjuring universe, The Conjuring: Last Rites, is currently in cinemas, giving Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga's beloved paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren a big ol' spooky send-off, Warner Bros. and Atomic Monster's iconic horror series is far from done with us yet. Per Variety's reporting, HBO Max's The Conjuring TV series — first announced back in 2023 — has just found its showrunner and writers, and they come packing some serious franchise pedigree.
As Variety confirm, Nancy Won — whose diverse array of writing credits include Apple TV+'s Sunny, Marvel's Jessica Jones, and Supernatural — is set to serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer on the series. Meanwhile, Agatha All Along and Moon Knight scribes Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires — whose combined CV also folds in Star Wars series The Acolyte, Agent Elvis, and the upcoming Gen V Season 2 — will lend their talents to the show in a writing capacity alongside Won. Longtime franchise guides James Wan and Peter Safran won't be directly involved in steering the series, which will continue The Conjuring universe's story and mythos in an as-yet-unconfirmed way, but the duo are aboard as EPs nevertheless.
When it comes to plot, cast, and even any sort of hint of a release date for The Conjuring TV series, everything is being kept very hush-hush at this point in time. But with Last Rites flying high at the box office in its opening weekend, one can only suspect that the folks at Warner Bros. Television will be keen to get the wheels in motion on Won, Cameron, and Squires' new series as soon as humanly possible.
