Terrifier 4 Confirmed To Be In The Works As Damien Leone Promises To ‘Finally Reveal Art’s Origin’

Ready for another Art attack? No, we're not here to tell you that Neil Buchanan is digging out the old red jumper for some child-friendly crafty fun (90s kids, we see you!). Rather, we're here to bring you the exciting/nerve-jangling news that Art the Clown's killing spree isn't over just yet. As confirmed by writer-director Damien Leone on Instagram this evening, the horrifying harlequin star of the Terrifier franchise will return to hack, slash, and otherwise dismember another day in Terrifier 4. Check out Leone's blood-spattered announcement below;

It may have been Leone's birthday today, but the director took the occasion as an opportunity to give a gift to Terrifier's passionate fanbase, writing: "I might as well take advantage of this day and give all of the Terrifier fans a little present in return — the script for Terrifier 4 is under way and it is shaping up to be the most epic, horrifying, thrilling, emotional and satisfying conclusion to the Terrifier saga." Not only did the horror filmmaker, who's been teasing potential future Terrifier sequels since back in October, confirm a fourth film is in the works either. He also took the time to promise fans something they've been clamouring for since the first film released back in 2016 — an explanation for where the series' monochromatically made-up monster comes from. "P.S. I will finally reveal Art's origin in this entry," Leone wrote, signing off with a playful wink and clown emoji.

Beyond the Art origin tease, we know nothing in terms of Terrifier 4's plot, cast, or setting just yet (though the man in the clown suit, David Howard Thornton, and final girl Lauren LaVera are expected to return.) And frankly, after the events of Terrifier 3, which came in the guise of a festive-themed frightener and promptly offered up some of the most sickening chills, kills, and lore-expanding, brain frazzling twists imaginable, we wouldn't even know where to begin predicting how Leone will wrap things up. But we'll catch you in the cinema on opening with ticket — and sick bag — in hand, ready to laugh, gag, and question our life choices one last time. Well, one last time until the next time, of course: the only thing you can't kill in a horror movie is fans' hopes for a sequel.
