Star Wars: The Acolyte Poster Teases The Dark Side Rising – And Confirms Release Date

It’s been a few months now since we last got live-action Star Wars – and while The Bad Batch’s third season continues to hurtle towards its grand finale, in a post-Ahsoka world all eyes are on the long-awaited and much-mysterious new show The Acolyte, coming to Disney+ later this year. And now, not only do we know exactly when it’s due to arrive, but we have a tantalising teaser poster too – promising a dark and dangerous delve into a period of the Star Wars galaxy that remains largely unexplored. All signs point to this one being bloody brilliant. Speaking of which, that poster: The Acolyte

Blimey. No messing around there. With what little we know of The Acolyte pointing towards a resurgence in the dark side amid a time of bounteous Jedi, this poster says it all – a bloodied lightsaber, a shock of red akin to an igniting Sith blade, and an ominous sign of things to come. The series is set 100 years prior to The Phantom Menace, coming in at the end of a time period known as The High Republic – a time in which the Jedi are thriving, as is the galaxy at large. But since we all know that big bad things go down a century later, expect The Acolyte to provide some insights into how it all started going wrong.

The series is created by Russian Doll’s Leslye Headland, and stars the likes of Amandla Stenberg, Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae, Carrie-Anne Moss, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Manny Jacinto, Charlie Barnett – plus Joonas Suotamo, back on Wookiee duty, this time as Wookiee Jedi Kelnacca.

Further good news – the poster unveils the series’ premiere date. We’ll be able to watch The Acolyte on Disney+ from 4 June. So, once you’ve all flocked to see The Phantom Menace back in cinemas for May The 4th weekend, you’ll be primed to dial the clock back a century for Headland’s show a month later. Oh, and it sounds like the trailer is dropping tomorrow too, so prepare for more Acolyte goodness to come.
