Slow Horses Season 5 Trailer: Roddy Ho’s New Girlfriend Spells Disaster For Slough House

From its very first episode, Slow Horses has been a show that excelled at withering put-downs – most often delivered by the series’ chief misanthrope, disgraced (and disgraceful) MI5 agent Jackson Lamb. In the Season 5 trailer he mercilessly skewers his team of fuck-ups: “Look what I’ve got to work with! A crack-up, a drunk, a psychopath, whatever that is. All of them more functional than you!” And yet, perhaps the most devastating assessment of all goes to IT expert Roddy Ho: the mere fact that he has a girlfriend now is instant grounds for suspicion that nefarious forces are descending upon the Slough House team to wreak havoc on the UK. This season is based on Mick Herron’s novel London Rules, tangling Lamb’s team in another web of intrigue where the enemies may well be from fellow government forces, let alone outsiders. And since Ho’s new girlfriend kicks off the story, the tech guy gets a bigger role this time around. “We were all just rubbing our hands,” showrunner Will Smith told Empire recently. “‘Ho gets a girlfriend?!’ Straight away, that’s hilarious, but it’s also a great mystery, because you know that’s not real.” Plus, we’re waiting to see what Lamb’s single “story-based fart” ends up being in this next batch.

There isn’t long to wait for Season 5 – which starts streaming on Apple TV+ from 24 September. Already, we’ve had confirmation of a Season 6 and Season 7 (albeit without Smith involved, having left at the end of Season 5), so there are more strange games to come, too.
