Russell Crowe’s Gladiator 2 Absence Is More Disappointing After His $359 Million Epic From 10 Years Ago
Even though Russell Crowe won't be reappearing in Gladiator due to his character's death, a 2014 movie proves why he needs another historical epic.
Although Russell Crowe won't be in Gladiator 2 due to his character's death in the first film, one of the actor's movies from 2014 reinforces how missed he will be in the upcoming sequel. With Gladiator 2 slated for a Fall 2024 release, director Ridley Scott will once again direct another historical epic with inspiring themes and gripping action. While there are a handful of actors who won't be returning to Gladiator 2, it's positioned to introduce audiences to brand-new characters. Chiefly among its cast not returning is Crowe, whose work as Maximus Decimus Meridius earned him an Academy Award.
