Lady Gaga Lands Mystery Role Starring Opposite Jenna Ortega In Wednesday Season 2

Paws up, Little Monsters — Lady Gaga is about to take a walk on the creepy, kooky, mysterious, and indeed spooky side! Between the recent releases of both DC supervillain sequel Joker: Folie À Deux and accompanying album Harlequin, and the imminent drop of her seventh studio album this coming February, Gaga could've been forgiven for taking a brief sabbatical from the day job(s) to recharge her batteries. Instead, per Entertainment Weekly's reporting, the multi-hyphenate artist is readying a return to the small screen with a role in Season 2 of Netflix's YA Gothic mystery series Wednesday.

Whilst details of Gaga's role in the upcoming second season of the Addams Family spin-off show remain under wraps for the time being, Variety's sources suggest that her role will be more likely a cameo than a full-blown recurring thing — try as Netflix's production team may have to work out a bigger part for the 'Born This Way' singer to play. Regardless of the size or screen time allotted to Gaga's character in the show, which is currently shooting over in Ireland, it's a piece of casting news that Wednesday fans will doubtless feel they manifested. Back when the show's first season dropped, clips of Jenna Ortega's unblinking Addams dancing to Gaga's 2011 hit 'Bloody Mary' went viral on TikTok, prompting the singer herself to get involved in the trend and post her own 'Bloody Wednesday' tribute. This then led to Ortega talking up potential ideas for Gaga's involvement with the show at last year's Golden Globes, saying to Variety, "If Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other."

Though we know very little about what to expect from the upcoming season of Netflix's global phenomenon, Gaga — whose last major TV role came in Season 5 of American Horror Story — will be in good company as she joins an increasingly starry array for Wednesday's sophomore outing. Among the new series regulars already on the books to spooky up themselves in Season 2 are Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor, whilst Thandiwe Newton, Christopher Lloyd, and Haley Joel Osment are all up for guest starring slots as a new term at Nevermore Academy begins. All of which is to say it sounds like Wednesday's second season is poised on The Edge Of Glory — and we're hanging on a moment with you!
