Steven Knight may be gearing up to shake and stir some vodka martinis as the writer of Denis Villeneuve's James Bond movie real soon, but the Peaky Blinders creator is poised to pour out a cold one with Netflix joint House Of Guinness before all that. And ahead of the new Knight drama's Netflix release on 25 September, the streamer has revealed a tantalising set of first-look photos from its boozy upcoming series, featuring the likes of Louis Partridge, Anthony Boyle, Fionn O'Shea, Emily Fairn, and James Norton. Take a step back into 1860s Dublin with us and check out the new shots below;
Clearly Steven Knight enjoyed his time in Victorian London with A Thousand Blows, as House Of Guinness looks to be another minutely detailed period offering — albeit this time from the other side of the Irish Sea. Positioned as a sort-of brewery-based Succession, the official synopsis for House Of Guinness reads as follows: "House of Guinness explores an epic story inspired by one of Europe’s most famous and enduring dynasties — the Guinness family. Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, the story begins immediately after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery, and the far-reaching impact of his will on the fate of his four adult children, Arthur (Anthony Boyle), Edward (Louis Partridge), Anne (Emily Fairn), and Ben (Fionn O’Shea), as well as on a group of Dublin characters who work and interact with the phenomenon that is Guinness."
Among the group of Dublin characters featured are Niamh McCormack and Seamus O'Hara's Ellen and Patrick Cochrane, Andor star Elizabeth Dulau's Lady Henrietta St. Lawrence, Game Of Thrones' Jack Gleeson (yes, Joffrey Baratheon himself!) as Byron Hedges, and, in a role described by Knight as "one of the most extraordinary aspects of this series", James Norton, who plays the enigmatic Sean Rafferty. How this star-filled ensemble come together — and to what ends — very much remains to be seen (unless, of course, you Wikipedia the actual real-life story of the Guinnesses), but we'll look forward to splitting the G with House Of Guinness when it hits Netflix on 25 September.
